(the above website is a really cool combo of recipes and photography, taken by the author; check it out)

Mexican hot chocolate was something my great-grandmother really liked, or so I’m told; I only met her a few times and her health was already not so good. But for some reason, we have a box of the Ibarra chocolate blocks. They’re really bitter, as I discovered a few years ago when I tried to eat them plain. But the box is cool, all in spanish, bright yellow with red and black stripes and a kind of old-fashioned looking writing, like something you’d see in a French posters from the turn of the last century. Anyways, I can’t wait to make this, especially when I go back to school and it’s like -20 with windchill. I’m in a co-op where we all take turns cooking dinner, and I think this would be a big success on one of those hell-freezing nights.
